Purpose
After all was done for the day, I poured myself a glass of wine in celebration for one of those days. You know, the ones that make you feel life has come around and you know your purpose.
Oftentimes, that purpose is easily forgotten so making the most of the several hours you're awake each day helps to keep you on your toes. Especially as a busy mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend.
As I felt my body waking up while lying in bed, I received a text message from a new good friend L asking to come over and pick up breakfast. I don't recall anyone doing that ever for me. At least I've forgotten the last time that has happened. And not only that, she brought Pappas BBQ breakfast tacos, which I've never had. Now I'm going back there as a satisfied customer. Thank you so much, L! We enjoyed them with the kiddos and over coffee. She stayed for a couple of hours before I had to head off to run errands. We were able to catch up and I had an extra hand around. Talk about a great start to the day.
We then headed over to Dr. R's place to say hi after running an errand next door. Fortunately it was her lunch hour so we were able to visit with her for a bit. Then the kiddos got hungry so we caught lunch next door. They behaved quite well here.
I've only started taking them all three out to eat by myself this year. This probably being my third time at most. I get a tinge nervous but not nearly as much as I was the first time. But I thought if I don't owe a break to myself by taking them out every once in a while, this mama could truly go insane. So what the hey, I did it the first time and there was no turning back. Just take a deep breath, be on the ball the entire meal, and it's done and done!
That evening after the boys' nap, we went to the neighborhood pool. Our neighbor texted me asking me to come out because she was bored. Ha.
It made me realize something. Us moms, working, cooking, whatever we're doing, have to admit we get bored of our routines and staying on task all the time! And it's nice to just put it out there, ask for a new face, different voice, in our daily life. Or just add something to throw off your monotonousness to keep it all interesting! Projecting, reading, watching a tv show that makes you feel like it's killing brain cells, visiting with your significant other or friend. You know, just keep it interesting.
So there I have it, a day just like this, making me realize how fortunate I am. I rarely ever get to see friends, especially this many, in a 24 hour period. I even kept the house in order and the kids happy and well fed! I have more off days than I'd like to admit, so by no means am I trying to rub it in your face. But just to remind you and myself that having that ONE day that you feel.....Hey, I can do this. Whatever it is you do. Maybe not 24/7, but at least one to two times a week, get 'er done right. So you don't lose track of yourself. So you are reminded of your purpose. So you can keep on truckin'.
What's your purpose in life and what keeps you going? Here's mine:
